Do you know if you male quail is attempting the act yet?

I finally named my keeper rooster today. Handsome is now Black Jack. He is starting to try to dance and tid bit for the girls now, but they are shutting him down quick.

I still have my old guy, Duke, too. They sleep in different rooms of the coop and hang out in different areas of the yard, so all is peaceful. But, poor Duke, I think he is worried . . . and he should be.

I have seen zero mating skills and only heard him make noise ONCE.

A happy flock with only one male won't make much noise. My males are more active in the morning when I turn on the lights
The other male (one that I ate) would crow early morning just before the sun would come up and I only heard him to it a couple of days before we offed him.

This one known male (I assume it was him) has only crowed once and it was at night just after the sun went down last week.

I have the quail cage up again a window in my living room which is right next to my bedroom too so I can hear them even when I am inside.
