I never imprint anything. Imprinting removes their ability to understand that there is a difference between them and people. This often leads to problems when they become adults and start using their natural actions against people.Well, they're in a tiny brooder that I can't walk in.
I did the same to my current breeder cockerel and he never fights me.
I prefer roosters that run from me. That’s how we raise all of our boys, and they always are much better roosters than the one we coddled.

We only coddled one, and we still have him. He’s mean and I wouldn’t want to impose that on anyone. He loves my mom so she takes care of him.
What's the best way to make a cockerel friendly?

Ditto. I just did an experiment to see if raising one to be tame would make it go mean now that I've owned chickens for longer. He's only 6 months and already starting to spar with me! I'm not bothering to stop him, though. It's funny and I'm going to eat him anyway. All but one of the other 50+ I've raised my way have been perfect gentlemen.
As an experiment, I'll continue to raise my 3 my way as I'm not really looking to have 4 males anyway.
This was second Thanksgiving, with my immediate family since we all had to go to extended family/significant others' Thanksgiving feasts on actual Thanksgiving.
