I grew up barefoot but always wear boots now. There are just too many prickly things (cactus, russian thistle, etc.) around. That doesn't even begin to cover any of the biting bugs either.

Is it not normal to walk around barefoot? I’m one of those people who hates socks, and will not wear them by themselves.

Legitimate reason to always have foot wear.
Barefoot and growing up go hand in hand, don't they? Thick callouses and dirty feet. The good ol days.
