I'll get back to you.Was there any indication they were uncooked? I thought by definition balut is already boiled. It would be a bad surprise to open one raw, and to allow them to die and sit prior to cooking them doesn't sound great either. I read up a little on it. Although the thought of it is very, very squicky to me, so many connoisseurs consuming them for the "tasty" broth and delicate meat probably aren't wrong.
