I’m considering getting a gentle leader/head harness for Theia. I’ve never needed one before but she is just awful on a leash and very hard to control due to her size, even more so when hubby isn’t with me.

We’re very slowly working through stuff with her. Food aggression, potty training, and separation anxiety are not a problem. She has mostly learned to not get on furniture without permission, but trusts us enough to cuddle when we invite her up.
Counter surfing is a big deal right now; we can’t trust her unattended with any food on the benches or tables which is extremely annoying. Dominating other dogs is a bit of a rough patch too.

Leash training and focus training while outside will be the next big hurdles. One day at a time.

Spring is on its way

You should!! They are supposed to work really well!! And I mean, a lot of guide dog and service dog organizations use them so they must be pretty good.

Sounds like you are making good progress!! Gator used to counter surf but eventually grew out of it but we also mostly stopped leaving food on the counter. I don’t really like doing that anyway. But it is definitely annoying if you are not used to it. And oh boy that’s a bit of a challenge for sure. You think she is doing it on purpose/aggressively or just like plays rough/is rude playing? Libby can be dominant with other dogs too but I think part of it is she just plays rough and is very rude playing. I don’t think she does it to be aggressive but idk. She loves other dogs but is just plain rude.

You will get there!! Sounds like you are making good progress. I need to more focus training with Frank and Libby. Libby is good at eye contact especially on walks cause that’s basically how I taught her to heel but ever since Frank it is a challenge. If they are playing, neither of them listens for anything or acknowledges I’m there. They have gotten better about acknowledging me though and not playing 24/7 now that he’s been home a while but it’s still not the best. Frank is good about listening and comes when called if he’s not tangled up in play and they both listen and/or sit for food but they really don’t otherwise. Trying to use less food and/or consequences/enforcing rules with Libby, Frank doesn’t know better

I don’t think so.. it’s all just CBD from hemp as far as I know. I haven’t researched it much outside of seizures.
Other than the mg strength and the flavor...not much different. The human CBD starts at 1000mg, the dog is 250 mg.

I had my first Johnny Jump Up in bloom last week. Today it is buried under the snow and it is zero out.

We have Daffodils up and blooming with -10 degree windchill and 50 mph winds coming tonight into Sunday with ice and snow. Yesterday it was 34 degrees with no wind...a pretty nice day outside. Mother Nature's "panties in a wad" thing has got to stop soon!

Bubby is wearing Lily's dog coat from Howling Dog....good thing it isn't pink!

I had to trace a pattern and will make Sassy one today. Looks simple enough to make.
Can't make one for every baby but the ones in the barn lot will have one.

They always come with their baggage, don't they? Almost always with the food thievery. Cricket is like a little coyote. Always trying to sneak things off of low counters, though he knows he is not allowed in the kitchen and at least abides by those rules.
Have you tried a pinch collar with her? I had a real head case of a doberman several years ago with the worst leash manners ever. One walk with the pinch, and he improved dramatically. Only had to use it a couple times. He's the only dog I've ever needed that with. Otherwise, I just go with the short, high leash. Works like a charm for the most part, but she's a big dog! Everyone has their methods. I'm sure you'll find the way the works best for you!
