Don’t get them. I promise you, the mess they make isn’t worth it. Plus the cuteness wears off quickly after they start getting bigger. Same goes for geese.

Yeah, they are definitely adorable but I have heard they are sooo messy which kind of grosses me out and not want to get them. Especially since I heard it’s easier/more likely to get salmonella from ducks cause of all the dirty water.

That said, I do think they are cute even when older, definitely cuter than ducks. I think the comb and wattles but especially pointy beak on chickens is kind of ugly/scary whereas ducks clean, feathered head and rounded bill and little webbie feet are adorable. and they seem to have kinder looking eyes. And cool personalities.

I am making myself want them again.

But I think the mess is disgusting and I don’t think I want any for that reason alone lol

I think I will stick with quail haha

I'm sure theres nothing actually wrong with them. I've had a few in the boarding kennel I used to work at & they board badly. In their defense most dogs board badly, but it always seemed to be the Weimaraners that would have nervous diarrhea smeared over the floors & up the walls every single day. That's been a long time ago, but apparently I'm still holding a grudge.

… I'd love to hear about some of their better qualities. Maybe it will help get the smell out of my memory.
