➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Everyone is growing like crazy! :love We are still struggling with the one with constipation issues tho. :hit We've tried coconut oil (getting it in her as well as putting it on her), Preperation H, hydrocortisone cream, antibiotic ointment, soaking her which she seems to like. Hell, we even tried an enema but have only done that once because we're terrified of hurting her. Soaking in warm water seems to help. We've put ACV in their water. She eats well. She likes the nipple waterer instead of the "normal" waterer. Since we put in the nipple waterer that she has to peck at to get water, she has been drinking more. She likes it a LOT better. She is very active. She is the only one that can jump from on top of the heat plate to the top of their feeder. The others are very jealous and like to try and jump up to get her but they can't. LOL! :lau She is tiny but brave and spunky. When we take her out to check her and put more cream on her she loves to climb to our shoulders, which freaks me out but is still cute. I am hoping that as long as she continues make progress in her growing, is active and otherwise seems healthy that maybe it is something that she will grow out of. My hubby is trying to ferment some food and I think we are going to try that as well. We're just trying everything I guess. It is just so disturbing to see her get so distended as she struggles to poop. For all I know she was just born with a deformity. I don't know. I just worry about her.
You might try a little plain yogurt added to her food to up the good bacteria in her gut.

:frow Good morning all. Been a little while, how’s everyone doing?
:frowGood morning to you too! Wondered where you were. Bet you have been busy with school and your new home. How is your adopted doggie doing?

:he:fl We got hail as well as rain last night. Hoping the lettuce recovers....everything else looked okay.

Thank you. We tried that as well. We couldn't get her to eat it. She was like, nope, nope, nope! And then my DH read that we needed to be careful of the calcium in it with the little chicks so we only tried it the one time. I don't know what to do about the yogurt now. I always thought it was ok for them? My dogs love it tho so it won't go to waste. So we went to trying this instead in their water. Figured it would be good for all of them and we can be sure to get her to get some in her system.

Hi Tes!

I just locked down my new horse eggs!
Hi friend! How many foals do you have this time?
My mom keeps asking when I’m gonna move my chickens up here.
 Hmm.

Yep, that about sums it up. Sorry for the hiatuses, I just get overwhelmed with it all.
But hubby is good, house is good, school is... well, whatever. School is just school. Been working through some mental health stuff, slowly figuring life out.

Theia is doing really well! We’ve had some training hiccups but she’s adjusted great to our lifestyle. She’s a goober.

Sorry to hear about your lettuce! The weather has been all over the place lately.
You really are quite the garden inspiration. I’ve been thinking about planting some fruit trees in our backyard this summer, just looking for motivation haha.

I grew up raising and eating meat rabbits. They were amazingly simple critters to raise, and their poop was the best garden fertilizer ever. If you don't have a problem bunny bashing, you should definitely do it!
Yeah I WAS gonna raise them... I even got a trio.. I didn't know squat and kept them together... never got bunnies. Not sure how old they were, but they were not young.
Then I thought about bunny bashing... I was afraid I wouldn't be able to do it... and end up being the crazy bunny lady... I turned them loose in the fenced yard.. 2 died after a couple of years and the last one started going in and out of the yard in summer and something got it in the fall. They really enjoyed the freedom so they had a good life

I didn’t need much convincing! Going to start on hutches and get me some New Zeland Whites!

:highfive: What kind? How old will your first group be?
First group will be 9 weeks next Saturday. The mom is a mix including chinchilla and flemish giant, the dad was pure new Zealand red.

I bought some pedigreed Rex, so next litter will be same mom and Rex dad. I also got another mixed doe, flemish giant and new zealand red. I'm hoping that doe and the Rex doe will be big enough to have a litter before summer gets too hot.

Awesome! We raised New Zealand whites and California whites. They were a good cross. The Flemish giants are huge!... Here's to a good meat yield!
