➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

No...last year.

Ah okay. Yeah. I just reread it and realized you were replying to the one above yours about the duck egg hardiness thing but I wasn’t sure at first without the quotes. I thought you were saying you had just hatched more and hadn’t told us!! Hahah like surprise balutties!!

Well, I invited hubby’s family over on a whim for dinner tonight. He’s working every day this week but it was the only day that kind of worked for his birthday.

I haven’t slept and I’m trying to find energy to clean the house, vacuum, mow the lawn, finish the laundry, go grocery shopping, find a birthday cake, and make dinner.

I just can’t. :hit
Hope everything went well with dinner and hubby's birthday.

I can sooooo relate to the dog hair issue! I have 3 dogs. A Jack Russell/Chihauhua mix. She sheds ridiculously! About 2 1/2in long strands of hair. Everywhere. And if she gets anywhere near you.... she doesn't even have to rub up against you. Just has to get near you and you're covered. She's as bad as any cat out there. I have a Lab/Pit mix. Short hair that sheds everywhere. And then my Lab/Pyrenees mix. Shedding is why I just got him shaved. So yea, triple whammy on the shedding front lol. We have a vacuum that has the canister thing that you empty. We have to do so halfway through vacuuming and then again after we are done. Every single time. :barnie:barnie:barnie

I can relate...vacuum canister get full with 1/2 house.
This is pretty much where Annabelle has spent most of the day.

I gave her 2 Xena eggs to go with either the 1 or 2 she is trying to sit on. I guess I’m going to let her go for it. Now ducks aren’t like chickens in that they sit and don’t move right? Ducks will sit a while but also will get up to go eat, drink and bathe/splash in the pool won’t they? So if I see her up and about I shouldn’t worry unless I don’t see her sitting anymore? I’m going to have so many questions. Worst case scenario is we’ll end up throwing out the eggs. Best case is we’ll have babies in a little under a month.
Mine sit and don't move until the ranging flock comes back in the evening. Then the girls rush to eat, get a drink....might take a swim, but enjoy a few minutes of social time and then run back to their eggs. Now have six sharing three nests....two each.

Well, Annabelle took a break from the nest last night once the sun was going down. She went on a foraging/chasing bugs spree as well as a dip in the pool before being locked in for the night. A couple hrs or so. This morning I haven't seen her sit at all (they've been let out for a little over an hr or so), until now. Now I can see her on the nest. I'll keep an eye on her to see how serious she is about hatching. :caf

It went well! We were both exhausted and didn’t make the best hosts, but we got to see his grandparents and sister before she goes back to college, so that’s nice.
Finally slept last night. :lau
Me too! Feels good! :highfive:
I think I might spend the day gardening. :)

Aw I’m sure they didn’t mind! It is family after all! Not like you were hosting someone super famous or royalty or anything! Ha

And yes it does!!! Might have slept a little too much lol but I think I was catching up on all the missed sleep :lau

And that’s a good idea!! It is cold and rainy here lol
