➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

So I attempted to do an intro of Street to his new girls yesterday. It did not go well. I was hoping if I took the littles out for some pond time while Street and his big girls were eating they may get along. Not so much. Street chased the littles out of the pond and over the top of the dam. I thought They would be gonners but I waited a couple of hours and went out with my rubber boots and a net. Managed to catch the three littles and put them back in their cage. I guess I'll just keep working with them and not turn them loose until they are big enough to be their own little flock to integrate as they see fit. *sigh*

Yaaay! :celebrate I'm so happy for y'all! It is coming along very nicely. It's always a slower process than you wish it was. Especially since you had to deal with the winter weather up there. What is so awesome is that you have all of these videos that you can look back on and see just how far you HAVE come. :yesss: Great job! :clap :highfive:

Got home about an hour ago I’d say or maybe a little longer now. We left around 3 or just after. It was fun. They also had a lot of vendors too besides the food trucks so it was kind of like a craft/arts fair too. They probably had more of those than food trucks. Ha the food trucks were all along the outside and then the vendors mostly in the middle. But they had stuff like jewelry, clothing, signs, ceramics/pottery, prints, some vintage stuff, etc. etc. lots of clothes and jewelry ha we didn’t buy anything except some food but we liked looking around. Also had a couple beer gardens/stands and even a wine truck but we didn’t get any alcohol ha there was supposed to be live music too but we didn’t see anyone. Maybe they were coming later. But it was nice. Except I’m so picky and also can’t eat certain things that I didn’t like most of the food truck options and settled for a pulled pork sandwich and sweet potato fries. :lau  did get everything on the sandwich though which was coleslaw, pickles and jalapeños. Picked the jalapeños off though. Wasn’t really thinking when I said yes to everything ha boring but I didn’t want seafood or Moroccan fusion or Greek or Mexican or Indian or dumplings and spring rolls or lamb or goat or hot dogs or kebabs or clams or lobster or anything weird :lau  I did cannolis though and dark chocolate covered strawberries on a stick haha but that and the coleslaw on my sandwich is about the extent of my weirdness :lau

Glad you had a good time. It sounds like a neat event.

I remember my drake, Noah, being a HUGE bully when I tried introducing Annabelle. It took forever for them to mesh as a group. Now he loves her completely and they are quite bonded. I have NO idea how her hatching ducklings are going to change things up. I'm hoping for the best and preparing to grab them to raise indoors just in case. :fl
Hopefully there will be acceptance soon. Do they have the ability to see and forage alongside but no touch?

Try applying some apple cider vinegar to toughen the skin and it acts as an anti-inflammatory...plus you will smell like a pickle. :lau

I put three fresh quail eggs in a cup and left the cup sitting in my unused quail cage.
I think I should be able to see something in them by tomorrow night...if they are cooking.
I've heard quail can hatch in 100 degree heat! Keep us posted.

One of my littles escaped last year from the littles brooder and wound up outside in the grass with the free ranging ducks. It was not yet feathered and the duck hens ran buffer from the drakes. Found it eating grass like the duck hens and seemed quite proud of himself.
Once fully feathered, I put all 6 in with a few hens in a separate pen for a few days. Then added the group back to the flock. Going to do the same this time. Or if one of the duck hens hatches some soon, I'll add the Maggie babies.
Daphne's eggs were all quitters. The 4 other girls are still sharing two nests.

Thanks! I’ll try that! Lol the kind with the mother or just regular one?
