➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

It is totally wild and it really is a baby doing baby things such as holding its mouth open for food.
There was a baby bluebird that launched early and was standing in the driveway. There were heavy rains imminent so I took pity on the thing and gave it a hand back up to the nest box. It hopped inside. The next day, it was back on the ground in the same spot. Once they jump, I guess that's that. Even if they can't fly yet.

Now, if there were any baby hornworms on those tomato plants...

Look who was waiting on the deck for me this morning.

Later in the day, my neighbor came over to get tomato plants. Somehow the little turd found its way into the greenhouse and was standing in tray of water.

This time it made no effort to resist being picked up and seemed happy to be out of the water. Of course it held its mouth wide open waiting for food.

I put it on the opposite end of the deck. At first it refused to let go of my finger and get on the deck rail. It wasn't long before it flew down into the apple tree but its landings need a lot of improvement. It ended up fluttering the whole down through the tree until it was on the ground. Of course it had to take out a columbine blossom on the way down.

Are the parents still around or are you going to substitute?

Nope, not a chance.
Awww...come on! If the parents have abandoned it...
Long tweezers for the first couple of tidbits. Then set the worm or bug in front of it and baby should peck at it.

No problem!! What breeds?
The four individual photos are: an Easter Egger, Buff Orpington, Red Sex-link, and Black Australorp. Those four are going to my in-laws.

The duo are Spangled Russian Orloffs and the trio are Salmon Faverolles. Those five chicks are mine all mine :love

The big group of dark chicks are Silver Laced Wyandottes. They are going to my parents in a few weeks.

This was my first time getting shipped chicks and I found it really stressful (mainly because of issues with my local PO). But everyone arrived safe and sound so I really shouldn't complain.
