➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Updates:
Finally getting some much needed rain...2 inches so far this morning and hopefully more to come. No run off since there were huge cracks in the ground where we couldn't water. Garden looks great...picking okra now. Still need to move day lilies and iris around to other flower beds.

Ducks are growing. Hoping there are more hens and fewer drakes. One blue one has a cute poof on its head...hope it is a hen. Will try to get photos.

Baby chicks out the wazoo! Moving last hatch of 18 out of the house to the brooder box in the hot tub room and the older 50 to the barn. Several hen's are brooding in the barn...will be marking eggs and reducing their egg count...don't need any more babies!

Fall calving season has begun now with 16 new babies on the ground...expecting at least that many more.

BIL decided to go with the chemo treatments. Biopsy for colon was clear (thank goodness) so he just takes chemo for the lung and bone every 3 weeks for 6 treatments. Hopefully this will give him another 12 months with his family.

Hubby and I are well and planning a remodel of the kitchen and bathrooms for early fall.

Lol! I think you're mixing me up with @Glitterchicks lol. Didn't she do the little meals by mail thing, hello fresh (I believe) and @Texas Kiki called it hello kitty food! Ahhh! Good times! :woot[/USER]
Oh, right... glitter and jewels. I do confuse you two in my senility. Whoops.

Ohhhh...I've been wanting to redo my bathrooms.

What are you planning?
Gutting them and starting from scratch?

Yes! A full and a half bath both dating to the build in the 1950s.
The full bath was redone in the 70s by the previous owner. It has an out-dated plastic shower/jacuzzi tub, a single sink with built in formica top cabinet, a linen closet and a toilet.
The tub area is tiled with 4" square beige tile and the other walls are tile 1/2 way up. The floor is utility grade carpet laid over the original green and peach colored tile. The light fixture is crappy over a 3' x 5' wall mounted mirror.
Have to work around a small window centered on the wall opposite the door.
All the electrical will be redone.
Plan on leaving the toilet and sink connections where they are but up-dating the toilet to water conserving and looking at a corner installation. I want to change out the sink and install a smaller more open vanity with a floor to ceiling storage closet in the corner by the door.
May install a pocket door instead of the swing door.
On the other other wall, the existing linen closet is too deep to use efficiently so it is coming out as is the old jacuzzi tub. I want a soaking tub and a walk in shower on that wall with new plumbing between.

The half bath is part of an addition on the old concrete back porch. That area includes the washer and dryer /mud room.
It used to have the hot water tank until we moved it to a closet. The walls have some kind of wall paneling that is fake tile. The flooring is ancient linoleum that also covers the floor in the mud room.
The half bath is serviceable, but needs new sink/vanity, wall treatment and new flooring thru out b1/2 bath, mud room and into the kitchen. We have already up-dated the toilet.
The half bath and mud room are at the back door and that also opens to the kitchen.
1970s wood paneling was used in the mud room and kitchen into the den. All that is coming out.

Okay I definitely need to see a doctor/do something because today my hand was numb/tingly the entire day. Sometimes worse than other times but still, didn’t go away the whole day even if it was less noticeable sometimes. Woke up like that.

Now the other one and my feet are acting up but I think the other arm is from laying on it but idk ha

But definitely need to do something.

I’m thinking it’s carpal tunnel or maybe a pinched nerve or something cause I’ve been doing this weird neck stretch thing for like months that I think is ****ing with my shoulders/neck/whole body and also sometimes when I crack my shoulder it sends a jolt down my arm so I really think that it’s something to do with my shoulder or with carpal tunnel or something.

But then idk because sometimes my feet have been getting numb too especially when driving but I REALLY hope it’s something fixable like a shoulder injury or carpal tunnel rather than like diabetes or something. I guess it could be two separate things. Idk.

I need to eat better and start exercising cause I’m way too young to be having these problems haha

But either way, I definitely need to see a doctor ASAP.

I actually have been having most of this stuff for a while, like months or a year  but never had the all day thing like today and the foot one hasn’t been that long.

But yeah. Idk. Kinda scared now ha but don’t really wanna go to the doctor cause I’m scared of what he’s gonna say or that it’s gonna be my fault or something ha

I think you better at least take before and after pictures for us.

Spent my day so far canning my second batch soup starter this week. Had 13 quarts in the first batch.
image.jpeg
Had to chop all the onions, several varieties of peppers, celery and garlic and then slip the skins on 35 pounds of tomatoes. Chickens love the scraps!
Brought that all to a boil.
image.jpeg
Sterilized the canning jars, heated the water bath canners, filled the jars including the salt, timed the process while cleaning up the kitchen and now the 14 quart jars are cooling and the satisfactory sound of lids pinging is music to my ears.
image.jpeg

Yesterday I canned the taco salsa...24 pints and three quarts of tomato juice.
image.jpeg
Earlier in the week I put up 15 pints of chili sauce too.

Not all those tomatoes were from my garden. A local farm market supplier always has canning tomatoes for me at $1 a pound. We bought five 25 pound boxes. Shared some with family and a couple of elderly neighbors who can't garden any more and put up the rest.
