Maybe not for a while lol

The mini's assignment last night was to find 10 words in a book that he's reading that he doesn't know and write the definitions to them.
I told him I do this assignment all the time on BYC.
He laughed at me. :(

Aww :(

While he laughs, we’re becoming smarter every day ;)

So is he though apparently lol

Fin and Jake are adorable :love They have great smiles. Thank you for sharing!

Tad does not normally get blueberries in her salad. I normally just hand feed her a few at a time as a special treat. But yesterday I was racing around trying to get a lunch packed before work, and it occurred to me (as I was portioning out some blueberries for myself) that Tad had not had any blueberries for several weeks. And I thought to my self that she really deserved some for being so good about eating her veggies this week. So without further thought, I grabbed some out of the container and threw them on top of her regular salad. Silly me, everyone knows that blueberries are like crack to beardies.

Awww what a silly girl!!!

You could exert the equivalent of total mind control on me simply by offering me fresh wild blueberries, slightly unripened. I know few things that can approach their level of flavour.

Unripened!? :sick

Yay, another young reader! What's he reading?

I started taking the boys to storytime at age 2 and they've been library regulars ever since. I consider that a huge win.

Mine are currently reading Lisa Maxwell's The Last Magician at the same time so they can discuss. I get asked some peculiar questions depending on what they're reading and I think I want to read this book myself. I'm also super happy they're branching out from Riordan. I have nothing against the guy but it's been all Riordan for a while now.

They start school the 1st of August around here so we're already a month into freshman year. No assigned book yet because they aren't in an English class this semester. I find it very strange that they have math all year but language arts is only half. Of course, they only have FOUR classes in their day so a lot of subjects are smooshed together. And they have something called "seminar" that's a complete hodge-podge. It's vastly different from what I experienced.

That’s awesome!!

But wow you go back to school early!!

And wow is their school different than ours haha they have semesters!? And so few classes? And some only for half the year!?

We always just had them all year aha

I mean, we already knew you were a lizard sooooo :idunno

:lau :gig :lau

This is all true.

BTW, the message that learning is life-long is a great one. He'll laugh because he thought you knew everything but eventually he'll understand that nobody does and I think it's an important life lesson.

Very true!! Well said!! :goodpost:

I tell him m all the time that daddy really doesn't know everything about everything.

In case you missed it, a rooster killed his elderly owner in Australia:

BLASPHEMER!!! The Spanish Inquisition will hunt you down!

Some of the most interesting (amusing, may be a better word here?) discussions we had with the children were when we asked them to teach us something. This was very interesting shortly after they started talking. We continued it. I remember getting an encyclopedia and thirsting for more knowledge. Led to more trips to the library. Now, we have the google (revered silence, please). What a game changer! Knowledge is power.

Ask a question. Question an assumption. Play with their little minds. Great when the light bulb flickers, isn't it? Got to the point that they would ask for confirmation of an understanding. I'd confirm, or ask the same question in a different way. The domino fell.

Yes, the kids did (are doing) well in school. And they ask me well thought questions still.

That is awesome!!! I am bookmarking this for when I have kids haha that probably won’t be for years so hopefully I can find it by then but still. :lau this is an awesome idea and I want to use it. :D

Careful. Stepson was trained in logic by Crazy Lady. His father is unarmed and woefully unprepared in this arena. When stepson and ex got into arguments, I mean, discussions, you can guess who won. We are proud of stepson.

Remember, be nice to your kids. They will be choosing which nursing home you will live in for the rest of your life.
