Today has been chilly and... wait for it.. RAINY! And it has been AWESOME!!! We've even had some slight thundering. No major storm or anything. All bark and no bite so to speak. I've been in jeans and a tshirt (with a hoodie when I had to go out to the store) so I'm freezing, my feet and hands are like ice and I absolutely love it!
We're still trying to break broody Daisy. Hopefully the significant temperature change will help. We're on day 5. She is being very stubborn. Hopefully come morning she will finally feel better.
The hockey game this past Thurs was amazing! We had such a wonderful time. The club section that we were in had a hot bar. They were serving beef stroganoff, pulled pork, baked cod, and a few other choices. They had another bar that had sliced meats and cheeses, fruit and nuts, bread slices (like a baguette) and a couple of spreads, a couple different salads. Then there was a section that had coffee and various desserts. And then soft drinks, bottled water, some various beers and house wines were free. More top shelf alcohol was an upcharge. But there was quite a bit to choose from. I was blown away. Each seat got a little gift box as well. In it was a lanyard, sticker and a team scarf. Keith Urban performed during one of the intermissions. It was a very special evening.
Yesterday, our neighborhood community had a special event/fund raiser for their fire dept. It started at 11am and lasted until 11pm I think. I didn't stay that long so I'm not sure. But it had a few food trucks and some vendors. Some inflatables for the young kids. The main attraction was music. Country music during the daytime. They had giveaways. Someone won a fiddle signed by Charlie Daniels. I thought that was pretty cool. They did a salute to those in uniform (police, ems, firefighters, military). Some woman (who I think was might have been in one of the rock bands that were to perform that night) sang (if you could call it that. It was AWFUL!) the Star Spangled Banner. I could see her having a good rocker voice. I bet she can shred. But man oh man, she didn't do the Star Spangled Banner any favors. Then the rock performances started. The first to go on was this teen band and they were pretty good. I was surprised. They did covers of Styx, Rush, Whitesnake, Journey, Triumph and then an "encore" which I didn't recognize at all. We ended up leaving shortly thereafter because we're old, weren't very prepared to stay longer (didn't bring lawn chairs or a blanket or bug spray) and we wanted to go home and watch the hockey game
. Yeah, we're pretty obsessed. It was still a fun time out and the money for the tickets went to a good cause so it's all good.
It's been a busy past few days.
