➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Thanks Nutty. I had a really low patch a week or so ago. I call it my semesterly mental breakdown. haha!...hah.
Doing better mentally now, just exhausted. A couple all-nighters never hurt anyone! (extreme sarcasm intended)

The Ginger is doing well. He is working full time at Rudy’s, so he’s only taking calculus. He’s plenty busy with that.
He’ll be quitting the barbecue joint very soon and looking for a job at a vet clinic. His job is a strain in many ways.. we’re both looking forward to the future and trying to keep our eyes on the prize.
that last sentence sums it all up!!
I like it
That's what I tell my daughter. All the hard work now will pay off in the future. Dont lose sight of the prize.

Researching for an ornamental to breed I came across these thought i would share

Haven't made the pear preserves yet, but did get the fall garden in shape. Pulled out all the okra...some plants were over 9 feet tall! Had to bend the stalks down for some of those last pickings.

We helped a neighbor this morning run his cows thru the squeeze chute for shots. He lost three cows in 4 days to Anaplasmosis...an organism (passed by ticks, biting insects, etc) attacks the red blood cells in increasing stages causing severe anemia that causes the cow to stop eating and drinking water leading to death in 50% of the cases.
Healthy cows can still look healthy when infected and still die.
The vaccine is no longer being produced by two of the manufacturers so the vet said to give LA200 shots. The bull got 50cc and the cows 30cc. Since you should only give 10cc per location, that means three shots per cow and 5 for the bull. My assignment was filling the syringes Needles on the syringes had to be changed for each cow so not to cross infect.
We had 25 cows and the bull done in less than an hour.

We plan to run our herd thru our chutes after the weekend rains. That will take several days since each pasture will be run separately.

On Tuesday evening I heard something on the roof and looked out the window just in time to see a turkey hen land in the driveway. She seemed pretty agitated and quickly flew into the fenced in area. I went out and could hear her calling as she ran through the area. Wednesday it became apparent why she was calling as I found her at the neighbor's separated from her buddies by a fence.
