➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Again!? :th

Should be easy though. I gotta dog sit tomorrow so should get lots of walking in haha

Honestly I think I’m getting a bit obsessed with the numbers/getting the exact steps in though. :lau
Every day.

Walked a bunch today planting bulbs and dormant plants...does that count?
Chickens and ducks were in the yard with me today...including the hens with the baby chicks!

Here is a quick layout of the front, side and back yards. The right edge is the highway and is north. East is the lower edge and west is the top edge.Yellow marks the location of existing trees, bushes and perennials.
Pink marks the locations of the new planting....looks like I'm concentrating on the east side of the property...I am so far since the driveway only had bushes and trees. Now it will have flowers.
Oh and all the flower beds are edged in rocks from our farm....moved with my Kubota tractor.

I have more to do on the west side. More bulbs and perennials are on order. And I have loads of plants to split to transplant.
There are many mini-climates around the house requiring shade or sun tolerant plantings.
Believe it or not there are open pastures on both the east and west fences making for hot winds that can dry out plantings.
The vegetable garden is to the south...left edge of the map.

That counts for double steps maybe triple.

I got attacked by my polish chicken last night :gigthe not so funny part is that she was attacked by a bird of prey, it looked like a falcon or hawk. It was a gray color. I hadn't seen her all day and she was in the coop so I went to go check her out to make sure she wasn't injured and she flipped a lid and ran out of the coop. then she decided she was going to lay on top of the chain link fencing all night long, which is pretty dumb because something would take her. When it got dark enough I snuck up on her and grabbed her and started petting her to let her know it was me then she flipped a lid! She started scratching like crazy and scratched my hand all up!

I put her inside the smaller coop that I have with the chicks because I put the mom of some of the chicks in there too because Sid is not being nice to her.

Today I have an appt with my pulmonologist and I'm bringing him some fresh eggs.

We butchered 5 of the Tom turkeys I hatched on May 1, they turned out to be around 20 pounds each.

Also, does anyone else have a tree chicken? The silly bird likes to lay her eggs there, previous hens have actually set and hatched there because we didn't notice until it was too late. The spot she is in is about chest height on an adult.
