➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Awww. You’re gonna do great. Everyone else is worried sick too, if it makes you feel better.
What’s your dissertation on?
Bird domestication :D

The full title for my dissertation proposal is "Social organization and bird domestication in the American Southwest/Mexican Northwest: a test with the fauna from Paquimé and Pottery Mound"

And sadly no one else will be worried because no one else in my cohort is defending this semester. Two defended already in Spring and the fourth is presumably defending next semester. So it is just me this semester :hit There will be plenty of supportive folks in the audience though. And several of my friends have volunteered to let me practice on them tomorrow and provide feedback. So that is encouraging.

I take a pill when it's been cloudy, which has been most of this year... take these in the morning/ early afternoon or they interfere with sleep. Fish oil is absorbed better with fats.. I eat eggs for breakfast.

Thanks!! That’s very helpful!! I’m gonna try that!!

Strongly disagree. There are ways to cope without medication, although I’m not against it at all.
Either way surrounding yourself with a strong support system is critical.

Very good points!!

I need to find more of the latter. At least an IRL one. You guys have all been great but I don’t really have very many IRL friends and the ones I do, I either never see or am not close enough to tell stuff to anymore. I need to fix that. Or even if I never tell anyone anything, I think I at least need to hang out with real ones more often haha

I have to disagree since I'm someone who has severe depression. Nothing worked but medication. I tried for 4 years to cope with it and it only made things worse. But I'm not just dealing with depression I have other serious illnesses

There are days I can't even get out of bed. I bet no one even knows what pulmonary hypertension is in this thread, it's not common.

I try to live every day like it's my last. I want to be happy when that day comes so if I complete everything every day I won't have to worry.
Do you think you’re the only one with severe depression?

I think that’s part of the problem with depression or even the other mental illnesses too. It’s highly subjective and individual and what works for one person won’t necessarily work for the next person so it’s hard to say definitively something works or it doesn’t work. For some people with even severe depression, they might just need intense therapy or a diet change or something, but other people might need medication. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with medication but not every person will need it even if it’s severe.

And there also seem to be so many miracle cure all treatments now. I see all the time oh just take this vitamin or that vitamin or eat better or exercise, I even saw that fermented foods reduce anxiety, so hard to know what actually works.

And I think that is an excellent strategy!! I need to be more like that haha

The way I see it there is no one solution for mental illness. It is a very individual process to find out what works for you. And when you find the thing (or combination of things!) that works best for you personally, you stick with it and it doesn't matter what anyone else says.

@KDOGG331 here are my groceries :gigAll of the canned stuffed has no salt added... There's still naturally occurring sodium in them, but usually less than 15 mg per serving.

A lot of our fresh produce we buy weekly so it doesn't spoil.

I took out the families groceries like their meat and snack foods.

Must have been quite the workout carrying all that in to the house!

It’s so highly subjective
