➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

He has been trying to impress her like crazy! He's a fast mover :lau He does the funniest little dance. Squatch even likes him and doesn't even bother him. I thought he would be angry that another man was moving in on his flock.

:lau

Hopefully he minds his manners!!

And that is adorable and hilarious!!! Maybe Squatch thinks he’s another chick because he’s so small :lau

Wait a minute king quail ARE button quail?
King sounds big to me.
yes actually button is the “slang” name.....I can’t find the history behind the term king quail, but my guess is that it had to do with the color and that they were probably kept by upper class???

He has red eyes too. He's the coolest chicken ever.

Chickens can have red eyes!?

Wait doesn’t this say button quail’s actually different and they wrongly call this one that?

What Muddy said.

Dork. It's December. Even if you did manage to get them here, they'd be frozen.

So thaw them! An incubator is the perfect way to do that LOL

I wanted to break his little neck.

LOL drastic!

My babies chirp and peep all the time but it’s adorable LOL

Crowing is NOT adorable. Crowing is evil incarnate when it's the 50th repetition and it's 2 AM and they're 3' from your bed. Chicks I can put up with because they shut it when it's dark.

Real button quail look like this. The type in the Wiki article under "King quail" is the type people are referring to when they say "buttons."

Bad news. My broody female quit and her eggs went pretty cold before I noticed. She showed no signs of wanting to get back on the nest, despite me waiting another half hour before doing something about it, and she'd been so flaky the day before that I had been rather concerned she would leave. So, I now have six eggs in my shirt, and my mini incubator is warming up.
