➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Thanks! He is beautiful but such a little stinker. He seems confused and unsure of himself, rather than just mean in general.
I'm working on training him and he seems to be responding, so I have some hope.

He's gotten me good about 20 times now. I'm just glad he's 8 weeks old and not 8 months old. :th
One of the times last night he was just clamping down harder and harder and I couldn't reach his jaws with one hand so I asked my husband to help me. We tried everything to see what he would react to, including spraying bitter apple spray directly into his mouth, and the little snot just bit harder lol.
They are hard headed little buggers.

She is precious. So funny and confident.
We named her Dakota.
Her brother shall remain unnamed until we're sure we're keeping him. For now he is Turdhead aka "SonuvaB*TCH".

Hopefully the training will work. :fl

He sure seems like a little snot though. OMG lol

But he’s a baby so hopefully there’s hope. :fl

Glad the girl is working out for you though!! She sounds amazing. :love

But :lau OMG I love the name!!

Maybe he just wasn't handled before you got him so maybe some tender loving care and someone like you will help.
I think it is a combination of being weaned too early, never being handled, and having no sense of boundaries or bite inhibition. It's like he really thinks that "playing" means "biting as hard as you can until you draw blood."
He is learning quickly. It's interesting to see the little cogs turning.. he's never had to stop and think about anything before.

@Kiki

Do you have a twin sister up here? I just saw a woman in Walmart that could pass for you. Same face, same color, long, straight hair, same skinny black pants and the same tiny black shoes.
It was me! You should have hugged me!

Wait...it couldn't have been me.
I don't do Walmart.

Sounds like some animals I've been given by others. Basically they never paid attention to them and wonder why they're so wild.

Aww sounds like there may be hope then!! Warning too early can cause lots of problems in other animals like dogs and cats so I can imagine it causes problems in ferrets too. Mom and the littermates teach a lot of valuable lessons, including bite inhibition, so he likely never got to learn that. :( and of course not being handled probably didn’t help haha but usually, as I’m sure you know, they bite their siblings or mom hard, sibling squeals they realize gee maybe that hurt them and stop (or mom kicks their ass :lau ) and they never had that. He’ll come around with your help. :love :hugs he’s still a baby so I’m sure he will come around. Thankfully this isn’t a super set in bad habit. Not like he’s 6 months or a year or two or whatever and having been doing it forever.

Yeah puppies that don't get to play with puppies don't learn boundaries and tend to bite like that too
When I got my beagle she was 3 years old and she used to bite so hard she would draw blood. She was an "outdoor" dog that no one paid attention to. She didn't even know how to play, it was very sad.
