➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I believe water candling can be used on any hatching egg to check for life in the egg at lockdown phase...
The problem is that at lockdown they do not move much so it is not as useful as regular candling.

It should not be used to determine if an egg goes into lockdown or not--too many good eggs will not wiggle in the water

I water candled once....kept me from tossing out an egg and

Yes, I totally agree, I use both methods. To be sure... :thumbsup
Yet it is fascinating seeing the egg move when the chick moves. :celebrate

soooo... I got all the way to the end, finally, and still have not seen puppy pictures! Or did the birthing happen on another thread and another live Youtube channel?

Also, while I've got the attention of people who live places other than me, if you were to plan a vacation in summer within an 8 hour drive of Charlotte, NC, where would you go? These are the parameters I was given by some other family members as they don't exactly have the same ideas when it comes to vacations as I do.

You know, doing my best to keep this thread totally on topic.
Drive to Houston.
Don't worry about that 8 number.
It can't possible take more than 8 hours to get here can it?

I do the same, just to be sure...
I had one last year that was missing an egg tooth. I checked at the end of hatch and heard cheaping. When I carefully got the chick out of the shell, It was fine and healthy.

You never know!

It's only about 15 hours...see not much difference.
Or you could just take the 3 hour flight?

have you ever had issues with the blue stuff in the thermometer like seperating? I'm curious as I figured out why my 10 egger bator was all messed up with temp and that was the issue. :he
Note to self.
Brisneas are NOT perfect.
Interesting.
