Oh my God this is the best suggestion ever!!!! So I need to go get another reptile therm today too probably.
Yes. I have no idea who those youtbe subscribers are.
I can't decide what to do with S and W. I'm thinking I need to open them.![]()
Nutty...I will have to get back to you.Get the other so you can compare reptile to whatever else you thought you wanted. Then you will have one of each. (and 2 ready to use bators)
Hmm?!? I wonder who they could be? Maybe somebody that reads these pages? Maybe?!?
The next 2 need to be named N & E. That way you have hatched the four corners of the world. The world is your playground!
You can do an eggtopsy. Then return them to the earth. Where the dogs can't get to them and the smell won't bother anyone. RIP Balutties! Been real.
Does someone have a checklist for all this stuff we have learned?
1. Wash hands
2. calibrate hydrometer(s)
3. calibrate thermometers
4. calibrate thermostats to thermometers
5. Wash hands and roll eggs twice daily
6. Get a bulb that doesn't burn out, not halogen. Can you still buy incandescent? LEDs don't give enough heat. Maybe a ceramic heat emitter? Heating pad? IDK
And another thing, if natural eggs are under a hen, does the light going on and off mess with them? I can't stand it when I'm trying to sleep and Crazy Lady keeps turning the light on. Makes me ... wait for it ... NUTS! Can't imagine trying to hatch and the light keeps coming on every 2 minutes.
Thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge. Very informative.
@BantyChooks - more quails pictures please. I think Kiki needs them.
@PirateGirl - no puppies. But we are closer. My living room has been appropriated. (again) I was hoping we would do this one outside in the doghouse that we had to have. On the porch that had to be cleaned. With no notice. Drop everything. She is already in labor. 5 days ago...
Kiki, if I may suggest, getting real hatching eggs rather than overpaying for balutties that you don't know the history or source or care or breed? We know you can do it. I mean you could be hatching out chupacabre or alligators or something worse.
