I don't like Starbucks either (sorry Kiki) its way too sweet for me. I wish we had a Dutch Brothers down here.
I try to stick to a 'What Would Grandma Eat' diet. In other words, real sugar, whole milk, food with ingredients I can pronounce & identify. Would grandma know what 'maltodextrin' is? Nope, not going in my mouth.
It makes my pediatrician insane that I only buy full fat dairy, but its the cleanest.
It is best. The cow won't put anything in the milk that it didn't eat. But the margarine makers put all kinds of stuff. The thing that always got me, if margarine tastes just like butter and butter is available, why not eat butter?
Did you hear about the kid with development problems? He was on a low fat diet. A nurse suggested a high fat diet after all the other treatments failed. At her wit's end, the mother tried it and the kid turned around. Seems you need fat to develop correctly.
Now, now, you can order your coffee black at Starbucks just like anywhere.
Sorry, tea-totaller here. Really confuses the rest of the family. Grandma raised the rest of the grandkids on coffee milk. I also only drink tepid or hot tea. Iced tea is simply not appealing.
Which then changes to sweet tea. Honey is ideal. Sugar imparts a different flavor. Molasses or cane syrup is also good but more sulfur. Brown sugar is nice in winter. And just a bit to counter the tannins. Too much and it is syrupy.
Oh, and spring! The mint is growing. Fresh mint in the tea! I need to expand the mint bed. The spring mint is so much more flavorful than midsummer mint.
