➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Sounds reasonable. You could scrub it out really well, make sure to get any visible soil off. Then you could spray it down inside and out and up and down with a sanitizing solution to protect your new flock, and allow it to dry completely first. I think how careful I would be would depend on how well I knew the sanitation practices were of the person I got it from.

I got a coop from a friend who only had one flock for about 2 years and never had any illness in her coop. They tested their eggs and decided that there was too much lead in the eggs. The chickens were also a lot of time etc. then the coop was empty for over a year. They are quite clean and organized people also So I felt really good about that coop when I got it. I would still sanitize it no matter what. But that is my personal preference.

I'm glad you didn't eat him!!I've heard of a people who eat the chick out of the egg.Good luck! Also, I hatched quail, they're pretty tricky, good luck on those too! My grandmother had chickens once upon a time and one day we cracked open an egg to find an embryo...We didn't think we had a rooster.
Your girls must have had a "back door man (rooster)" :lau:lau
