Yes, the windows came from 2 different remodel projects. The wood for the raised beds I have all came from a deck that was torn down and rebuilt. The original duck house and the temporary drake jail is all built from pallets/shipping flats. Mostly I just buy a lot of screws and nails and hinges, but not much in the way of wood ever. I also bought a gallon of exterior paint that I used on the chicken coop and my front door and will paint the duck house soon.

@KikisGirls Yes, they are brown. They are Khaki Campbells. Their adult feathers growing in are penciled, but they are still brown from head to toe including their beaks and feet!

@Ursuline Chick - nope, not eating chick feed because it is a GIRL in accordance with the prophecy. These were the ones I tried to get the broody to adopt in accordance with the prophecy.

So @RUNuts did your broody not adopt the babies, like broody did not adopt the babies? Will you also be building an unplanned isolation pen out of pallets so the babies don't get killed by an angry mama or roo?

So @RUNuts did your broody not adopt the babies, like broody did not adopt the babies? Will you also be building an unplanned isolation pen out of pallets so the babies don't get killed by an angry mama or roo?

The reason we waited was to process the meat birds so the tractor would be available for an isolation and growing pen. This tractor was made from recycled and repurposed shipping crates, old picket boards and dog food bags (tarps) torn open for weather protection. Worked great for the CX.

I also slapped together a Lumnah Acres $30 chicken pen from old picket boards and the old couch. New hardware cloth of course. So I have 2 options, if it stops raining this week. Until then, they are in the garage.

The broody is behaving so far.
