I think one should be allowed to make their own decision on what animals they keep as pets or raise for food.
I am not a fan of anyone making rules/laws about this.
To each their own.
The only part about auctions in general (and I can only speak for the type of auctions in my area) I don't like is people selling sick animals and down here it seems that is what gets brought to auctions...the animals people no longer want because they are sick.

Unfortunately there is someone who is notorious for bringing animals that seem/are sick to the auction there. They're a regular there, they're the one who brought the emu chicks that time. Last time they brought a huge pig, you could see how swollen his front leg was, and he didn't want to put weight on it. They literally pushed him down the hall to the auction floor, pig screaming the whole way trying to lay down so it didn't have to walk. I think it sold for $20 - a 600+lb pig.. Same person also brought the camel last time, and he didn't seem all that healthy for a supposedly 17 year old camel.
