@RUNuts my husband blames me for her protectiveness because she is more protective of me. It's hard because there are times I want her to be. I don't want strangers on my property or in my house, I want to be safe when hiking and camping, but I want to be able to invite a friend inside or take the dog to a public park and not worry about the behavior of the dog. I've learned I just have to train the people around me. I tell them to ignore her, and sure enough, if the dog is not provoked or feeling threatened, within a few minutes she is nudging the hands of of scary stranger friend I invited over for dinner trying to convince them to pet her even though she was trying to convince them to get out of our house just minutes before, or she will come drop a tennis ball at their feet (obsessed with a ball, will automatically be the friend of any human with a ball and fight to the death with any dog with a ball). She also without fail tries to herd small children, though this is probably the Australian Shepherd in her.
