Don’t be sick! There is hope! Seriously, consider putting a little coconut or olive oil on the membrane. You’ll be able to see through it better.

Imagine if you had cracked it open like a regular egg, hmmm? You did the right thing, cheer up!

So many of us who hatch chicks have killed one we thought for sure was dead. I know I have. You learn and move forward.

I think you did the right thing! There's lots of hope for a successful hatch with the little baluttie. Those rotten ducks can really take their time coming out - It's why I can't handle using an incubator for hatching.

I don’t think you killed it, if that’s what you’re worried about kiki. That’s not enough blood loss to kill the chick, if it’s alive then the only danger is the membrane drying out.

I haven't killed it yet.

I didn't go about cracking it gently either. I thought for sure it quit. I can not believe this.
I had company show up.
They are gone now so I can sit still for a little bit now.

The yolk. And toes!

I don’t see a crack in the membrane. Are you saying it’s torn a bit somewhere?
