As mentioned before I had trouble with a broody. Well one of them was the Marans I spoke of earlier. I suspected she was eating the eggs. Well She started laying yesterday after being broody for a while and I found this on her egg I collected today. :he

Oh, I get it. LOL I wouldn't want another Marans if mine ate eggs either. :th

I'm not supposed to have roosters either which is why I don't have one yet but literally everyone I know in town that keeps chickens either has or has had a roo and one point or another. So I've been considering just doing like everyone else and getting a roo. And I'm sure they are lovely boys. I hope that didn't come across rude. I think I just got a dud Marans somehow.
Well my two Marans are both psycho, one being the bad broody.

Ekkkkkkk

Street is standing up in this last photo, she is not. It makes him look a lot bigger than he really is.

Just wondering bc you all are very knowledgeable regarding chick hatching. How long has everyone kept chickens? I'm really loving all the info I'm learning following these active threads and it just had me wondering. I just got my first chickens last year and really didn't have any experience with them. I didnt grow up around chickens but I'd been wanting a backyard flock for years. I familiarized my myself with breeds and housing and am trying to learn the rest as I go. I started with 9 pullets and am constantly adding and subtracting from my flock until I get exactly what I want.
Only a little over four years, actually. I've been hatching for a bit over two. I'd been around chickens as a kid but didn't own them.

What? No! :hit

Did you ever show the man yet?
No not yet.
The Man (original) didn't know I was in there buying Street Food this time so I feel weird texting him.
I will go by the store and show Man #2 tomorrow or Friday when I pick up more eggs.

I think it might be better for them to grow up with their new family.
I think if I keep them too long I will be in BIG trouble.
