➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I have not had time to read the last 4000 pages but skimming through I noticed y'all talking about blues. I've had blues for a long time and they are my pride and joy. Not layers mind out but still nice. Here's a pair that's a few months old that I will keep off my aging broodfowl and a stag by himself I have a pullet for him to but she's ins different pen

Are yours blues or are they splashes?

Both. They are miner blues and do throw splash but as in the pic one pair can throw splash, pyle, solid and anything in between. I guess what I'm trying so say is a splash pair may or may not throw all splash they will have some but usually there's other colors mixed in but as in thus pic a splash pair threw all splash

Shouldn’t true splashes only produce splashes if bred together? Both would pass on a blue gene.
Just like in horses if you bred two cremellos together you would get another cremello because each would have passed on a cream gene?

maybe I've never really bred for color. That's not in the best interest of gamefowl

The barred rocks are the cutest little things. They’re the tiniest of the bunch and are so sweet and gentle.

The EE gender suspicion continues. He’s the bravest and biggest by far. Note the posture here, he’s the only one who randomly stretches up to survey everything.

The little welsummer is absolutely gorgeous, her eyes make me melt. I won’t dwell on it but it really is a shame her sweet sister didn’t make it.
