➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I don't think that they are their own breed, I may be wrong but I think that they are just selectively bred Coturnix.
Texas A&M is just a jumbo version of the English White coloration. Still Coturnix, and can cross with the other color mutations.

10 stripey stripe regual quail.
1 all yellow...maybe some gray
1 yellow with a stripey stripe
1 yellow with a more solid stripe

Stripey stripe yellow on right.
Such little cuties! Solid yellow will turn out white feathers, might get spots on head. Yellow fluff with black stripes will be a golden/Italian. The ones with color on the back and yellow fluff underneath will be tuxedos, the yellow will be white feathers, brown fluff usually indicates brown feathers, so you probably have a Tibetan tuxedo. The tuxedo with the grayish fluff might turn out to be a silver tuxedo.

:gigPugs & Spuds - Quail hatchers. :gig
Careful pugs - how big is your coop? I've heard people keeping quail & small chickens (fakers) together, but the larger chickens can be aggressive on the little quail.
Oh no! Everyone's getting their own space. I'll probably wait until these birds are settled before gettng the quail. If I get any out of these eggs at all!

First chick got out of the cup sometime during the night, guess it was feeling more lively. Second chick hatched itself without further help overnight as well. Third chick the membrane looked dry and couldn't see veins so opened more of the shell and left it sitting in the cup. It then kicked out of the shell in about 10 min. Last chick still looks like has veins to absorb so left it alone.

Today's going to be a coffee day! I can already feel it. I got off work at five and cleaned out the coop before sunrise. I got the incubator, temp/hydro meter, and a candler in the mail. I set up the incubator but it smells suspiciously like burning plastic so I'm returning it. I found someone who's selling their incubators (2 diff types) with auto turners, but unless I want to drive way out of my way, I can go pick them up while they are in town today. At 10:30 a.m., plus I'm going into to work at 3:30 p.m. for another 10hr of overtime.:th
These birdies better hatch! Ah well, at least my candler is pretty.View attachment 1502456
I tested it on a medium brown egg from the fridge. My eggs are being shipped today and will probably be here tomorrow!
Congrats! :wee More babies. Hope your new incubators work well, eggs are shipped well and you have a great hatch. Please keep us up dated on how things are going. Good luck tonight, hope you are not too tired, over time is always good. :highfive:

On a completely different note.... When I went to bed last night the tv and lights were off, only my son was up playing on his computer. When my hubby and I wake up this morning, him because he has to go to work and me because I help with taking care of the animals, the tv was on. No sound, which is what happens when it's been turned off. It automatically mutes it and you have to push the volume button to get it to come on. I say to my hubby, "Why is the tv on?" He said, "Hmm. I don't know. I didn't turn it on for anything." I say to my son this morning, "If you're going to play the ps4 or whatever, remember to turn off the tv ok?" He looks at me like I'm crazy and tells me he didn't mess with the tv at all after we went to bed. This is at least the 2nd time that it's done this that I can remember. It's freaking me out man!!! :rant:oops::barnie
Anybody else's tv just randomly turn on for no reason? I am trying to figure out of any of my dogs could have somehow done it but I just don't see how. The tv remote was sitting on the kitchen table, facing AWAY from the tv. I'm at a loss.
