➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Speaking of Brahman, the old folks around my parts used to say they were dangerous bc they never closed their eyes before they hit you, supposedly unlike other breeds. Anyone else grow up with this old wives tale?
Never heard that one before. I know they can be a pissy breed but that sounds random lol.

:lau Easy!!! One hundred duck sized horses! Hell the panic and run at the drop of a hat! all I'd have to do is stomp my foot! Be gone tiny horses!
Really? But what if they were fighting back and all kicking your shins lmao.

I’d fight a horse sized duck for sure. At that size, I’m not even sure it’d be able to walk LOL.

Yeah, I'm sure it's not true. Just one of those things the old folks said bc at one point they were exotic and different and bc they tended to be more unpredictable. Just wondering if anyone else ever heard it. Truth be told though, I've been on the back of two totally tame bulls in my life and they were both Brahman.

I feel like a horse sized duck would try to eat me. And maybe be successful. It could certainly drag me in the water and drown me!

ETA: we are talking 1000 lbs of duck here!

ETA x2: I don't believe they would fight back. Prey instinct is too strong already. If they were minimized they'd scatter.

Popping here and will go back and catch up.
Have not caught the bobcat yet. The other night she brought a young bobcat with her. They killed 4 roosters from the Freezer Camp pen and got away with three. Did not show the next night...food storage in the den was full. She showed up at midnight last night but couldn't get into any of the coops.
Maggie has been a great mother for her single duckling.

Mollie had four ducklings and lost one thru the night...

She lost one of the black lings Friday night. She has not brought her babies out of the coop yet...the remaining black was running with Maggie and Cutie. Even got in the swimming pool and could not figure out how to get out. I've place a ledge inside the pool and one outside to help.
As I was checking Mollie's nest and refreshing it with hay, I noticed that the buff duckling was not using one foot correctly. I scooped it up and have it in the NIC-U with a bandage to spread open the toes and keep the leg under the duckling instead of dragging it. In a couple of days . it can rejoin Mollie and the sibling.

And here is the "Foster Mom" it is a duster made from camel cloth and suspended above the baby...it snuggles right in there.

Saw my Doctor Thursday and I'm now on 5 medicines and have an appointment with a gastro doctor if the meds don't take care of my problem.

Our fall calves are popping out like popcorn!
I hope Nic U gets his little leg cured fast so he can't get back out with the others. How cute.
If he is a boy he needs the name Nick.

I hope gastro figure out what is going on and quickly. :fl

We need baby cow pictures!
