➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Oh where I do begin.....
My healthy chicks are dead....
My babies have almost all died :hit

Went from happy peepers to dropping dead in less than 3 hours. I got home just in time to watch the second one die on my hand....

I am a wreck. I am so upset that I don't even want to keep chickens anymore. I lost half my volume of birds this summer alone.

I am tossing everything I had in with them and buying new stuff for the last one left.

Like a godsend I just had another local breeder contact me to give me some of his eggs.
:hugs
Why do bad things happen to good people? Grrr
You ordered those eggs though right? That's something to look forward to.

I did order those eggs but I canceled the order until I can determine that the problem wasn't this breeder's stock.
That is why I am getting eggs from someone else.

Something is off, healthy chicks don't just drop dead. Were they all eating and drinking? What did their poop look like? What was their environment like? I'd want to figure out what happened before going through all that again. How old were the happy chicks that died? Birds are incredibly good at hiding any symptoms unfortunately. Makes it hard to get to the bottom of the issues sometimes.

All that said, I'm sorry for your struggles, don't give up.

4 days old.
We think it was the feed. The bag was 6 months old.

I hate to say I never look at the age of feed bags I pick up. So SOMETHING has been learned by me from your experience. Hope it is really something that simple.
I hope so, too. Only other thing I can think of is toxins in the new waterer.
They had severe neurological damage immediately before death.
