➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I had one bantam cockerel that I identified as such when he was less than 24 hours old. He started sparring with my finger!
I named him Bravo (hatched from egg B), he always had an upright stance and kept nipping my fingers whenever I reached into the brooder. Still does actually. Doesn't hurt, just surprises since you don't really expect to be nibbled on. I got two Brahma chicks (Echo and Foxtrot) since he was the only egg to hatch; I am hoping they are girls. I posted baby pictures on Cy's thread when they were little.

You're probably not going to get even a small sandwich worth of meat, but he'll make some bang-up chicken stock. :thumbsup
I don't know even how to go about making this. The only thing i've gutted was a fish. This will be interesting!
Anyone want tell me their best way to cull/ butcher a chicken?! :pop

Nothing beats a good chicken stock - I will take ALL your tiny useless, mean roosters.
Sweet!
I have two that need to go, but they're still in the sweet stage so I am being a wuss and letting them grow up and eat more and more feed.

As the late, great Chaos18 told me a few years ago... "you make the insides outsides."

My only nice rooster did that!
When he'd peck my finger, I'd peck him back with mine. The 2 nasty ones were cuddled and babied... it had the worst effect.
My biter grew up to be nice too. I sold him a few years ago but now I wish I hadn't.

That was about my reaction at the time too.

What I see people forget most often is to get the crop, lungs, and oil gland out. Other than that it's pretty much just taking out anything that's loose. Doing necropsies first helps.
