Baking a cake is weirder. I say bake the cake. I did that two weekends ago... for the family reunion. I was not entirely sober. It was sooooo good. I have the best chocolate cake recipe in the world if you be interested... I don't care for cake, so it's more like a dense, rich brownie-ish cake.

Smash it slightly with the heel of your hand or a spatula, just once or twice, enough to break the skin in a few places but still keep it's general shape. Pan fry in a mix of olive oil and butter until crispy on both sides. Serve with a bit of salt, butter, and grated cheese etc.

What's so weird about baking a cake at midnight? Unless you're a gremlin?
It's totally normal...unless you're feeding the gremlin.
Like just enough to coat the bottom of the pan but not deep fry. So it crisps up golden on the outside without soaking up all oil.
