➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

It started off with leaving late and then getting stuck in traffic for over an hour and spiraled down at school from there. :th At least I did well on my quiz and found out that last class on Thursday cancelled so I get an early labor day weekend! Plus the certification. So it's not been all bad. :)
Ouch. I hate being late, makes me so anxious. I was so paranoid that hubby was going to be late for his 8am class that I made him leave at 6:45.. he was 40 minutes early, oops.
I love cancelled classes. :D

I don’t know if I congratulated you, but congrats on the certification! In the end, was it hard to do or just time consuming?

That is not always the rule.
I can sometimes sell birds that are not being cycled back into breeding. And there is a petting zoo around here that takes roosters.

Nobody says I have to be like the French and go all 'Off with their heads!'
And if mereks is in your flock cause of no restart you will be exposing other people's flocks with your infected give aways

This problem came from somewhere and I'm betting it didn't start with me.
I highly doubt I am the biggest problem we have around here.

And yes, I know that sounds d****y but I want to make that point.

And sure, I know that sounds d****y but I want to make that point.
Well yea, but it could spread with you. Either way I don’t agree with killing your entire flock, only because it wouldn’t work to stop further birds getting infected anyway.

Also I can’t for the life of me figure out what d****y means.

I think that if you want to breed birds you need to cull sick ones asap and breed resistant/ strong birds. I think that keeping a recovered sick bird such as Lindi (if she recovers) is a bad idea. I think that if you should keep her and no other birds get sick it could be a waiting game and maybe no one else gets sick and you go from there.
I think this is not something you can decide on guesses. I think you need a for sure answer...I would. Testing.

What is the d word?

Agreed.
What I can’t decide on.. is what do breeders and show-ers do if mareks gets into their flock? Quit the business altogether to keep a closed flock indefinitely, or straight up lie and keep spreading it around?

Perhaps start selling only vaccinated birds, thus still probably spreading it around (and creating worse strains) but flying under the radar, so to speak?

I haven't decided what I think either.
This is a tough one.

I can say that if you are having to constantly medicate your flock you had better be keeping it closed.
(Or I will throw a fit)
