Good Morning all! Getting ready to get ready for work. LOL had to check here first. I feel like I am missing soooo much. Still think I may get some hatching eggs this weekend. French Blue Copper Marans and Lavender Marans. I know I am crazy, DH said "you do realize you may be at work when they hatch this time, right" Am hoping if I set on the weekend they will hatch on the weekend. Although I learned this last time that much like human babies, chicks hatch when they are ready. Last 2 clutches (set at the same time under 2 broodies) hatched between April 29 and May 3 . 1 broody hatched 2 eggs April 29th and 30th and left the nest. all the eggs went under the 2nd (crazy) broody and hatched May 1st and 2nd and she left the nest. And the last egg I hatched myself on May 3rd with a heating pad bator, as it had externally pipped already. So now I am going to repeat this while working full time. Yeah, I think I have lost my mind to chicken math.
Oh, 2 month old grandbaby likes to go in the chicken yard and watch from the safety of DH's arms. We are creating a chicken crazy kid. Sure Mom and Dad will thank us for it later. I suddenly feel sorry for @Cyprus parents
ETA: At least she can keep her chickens here, if she needs to!

I'm not going to terminate my flock just because one person says to. It would not be worth my while. I have only 2 adults for showing and the rest are hatchery layers.
Plus it is a stupid plan because the virus is still in the environment. Hatching their chicks just to put them on the same property defeats the purpose.

Yes, she made it through the night.
Her crop emptied and she appears to not have dropped more weight.
I will tube fluids and food tonight. She is eating but not enough.

I'm considering just ordering the Katee baby bird formula. It is 1/3 the price and can be here by tomorrow.
The rest of my family isn't really on board with trying to save this bird.

Also, Lindi's poops are perfectly normal if anyone wanted to know.

My dad is on board for sending the body in for a necropsy if Lindi dies.
We have decided that if we come back Marek's positive we WILL liquidate our flocks and just be done with this. Because reality is that the virus won't go away before I leave for college.

Do what you feel you need to do. I do agree with everyone else though, that if she does end up passing, it would be a good idea to get the necropsy done. That way you can have peace of mind in knowing exactly what happened.

I really do still believe that if it is in fact Marek’s then she was genetically pre-dispositioned to be weaker against it, as you said both of her parents died of similar causes.
