➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I'll say again... you got this. Great to hear someone actually thinking it through instead of "gee, that's cute"!

All that being said, Aussies are GREAT dogs. We have mastiffs because we chose a dog that suited our lifestyle.... couch potato! LOL I think you would have great fun with an aussie or a BC. One of my poms had the personality of a BC in a smaller package. His zoomies were hilarious. :)

Thank you! And yeah, I would never do that. Hate when I see people just got a dog cause it's cute or popular. Huskies and Border Collies seem especially popular lately. Someone in our neighborhood/family friend got a Border Collie a few years ago, maybe more now, she might be as old as Gator (6), maybe not quite, anyway, I only ever see them walk her and not even that often anymore or play in the yard sometimes. And one time we saw them and the dad was saying how she's great but crazy when they get home and it somewhat upset me because I think they just crate her all day when they're at work and school.... hopefully now they don't but who knows. NO WONDER SHE IS CRAZY. But at least they kept her. Respect for that at least cause a lot of people wouldn't. :( and then I have a friend who once told me that ex boyfriend has I think a Border Collie but maybe a husky, maybe she's got two exes with dogs like that. And the one supposedly they can't walk it (they are on a busy road but still) so they just tie it out front sometimes, play fetch in the hall, and let it in the yard. She said the BC they literally let it inside the fenced pool area and it runs around the pool for like two hours... :barnie

I would never ever in a million years do that and I don't understand how people can. Nor do I understand why you would even get such a dog if you are going to do nothing with it. I mean, I doubt they are teaching it tons of tricks like I would or doing a competition sport with it so it almost seems like a waste of money to me. You don't need the brains or athleticism if you're not gonna use it so you might as well just get a Lab or Chihuahua. Though some people just shouldn't have dogs.

But yeah, they really do seem like great dogs. My cousin had one who just passed last month, sadly, but he was great. A little protective sometimes maybe but great. And it's funny, I can be a bit of a couch potato myself so Gator is a great fit but it struck me today that while I may not run 20 miles a day or anything, I am VERY into training dogs and practically constantly training so it would get almost ridiculous amounts of mental stimulation plus of course sports training so I think that would be more than enough especially when combined with the huge yard and all the walking and hiking areas nearby. I could even practice some tricks and use fetch or frisbee as a reward or go practice recalls and that would probably wear it out or at least take the edge off. And oddly I've been more active lately, going outside to take care of the chickens and water the garden, and walking Libby as often as I do now. I like love walking now lol don't think I'll ever love running but maybe. Or biking. I still eat like crap though and stay up late at night. I don't like being inside during the day much anymore. Am either outside or driving around. I think it started when I realized sitting around binging TV all day gave me migraines lol

Or you could have a dog like my perfect dobie/lab that never goes to the vet. I had a little growth removed from his eyelid ($900) and that is the only vet visit in 9 years.
He's in such good health that they thought he was a young dog.
Then there's the train wreck that is my other dog... Yep, just depends on the dog :)

Yeah, our old Lab never went to the vet and Gator has had leg injuries (though didn't need surgery thankfully) recurring issue though and now immune system issues we think or something. The myositis, bee stings inflaming his eye, eye infections, ear infections, skin infection and hair loss was the latest. :(
