Had an uncle that raised beautiful game birds back in the day in Missouri. Best fed birds around. He was a judge too for the fights before they were outlawed. The cock birds had to be tethered to their individual coops...out of striking distance from their neighbor. The hens were attentive mothers.


My mom used a paperback book to teach herself yoga positions back when I was in high school in the early 70s. It was great fun.



I use Oxine in the plastic water containers and rubber trugs. No algae.


Thanks. On the Oxine, I use a tsp per gallon of water in the big waterers and 1/4 tsp for the quart waterers for the cage birds.
The brown or red algae is the worst. Green algae seems a favorite by the ducks...they like it growing in their swimming pools...although I scrub them frequently.

sounds like he had a nice setup. My mentor way back when had cords and barrels but I have to keep mine in individual dome pens cause of hawks and such. He had them lining a pipeline with flypens and a brood house prolly 30 wide and 60 long. My very first game chicken I ever had he gave me to take care of he was a retired grey broodcock. After a year or so being a thorn in Mr Ronalds side lol learning and handling with him and caring for the grey cock he gave me a hatch hen and told me to breed them and the rest was history

I don’t know anymore. I went almost 2 weeks and was over the moon, and then suddenly relapsed. I tore a muscle in my rib cage, it feels and looks like I’ve been hit by a car.

That paper is kinda weird, but I am down for anything with a dog helper.

Off topic for sure but as I sit here and listen to another night of CONSTANT dog barking I can't help but wonder why roosters are considered a nuisance for their occasional crowing! This was still in my reply from last night! I never posted or deleted so...durp... here it is. No dogs barking now but it still holds true. Up now bc of clinicals jic anyone is wondering.

Just culled the last three cockerels, due to "nasty" (polite word) neighbor across the street with 2 barking ass dogs. My cockerels may have been noisy, but they didn't run through people's gardens and poop on their sidewalks.

Ugg. It's aways a relief to have that difficult task behind me.

I do find it weird how a rooster's crow is seen as totally, completely unacceptable given the myriad of noises that you hear every day in suburbia. A few crows is a lot more acceptable to me that a dog that constantly barks.
