➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

My Momma hen officially left her brood yesterday. She laid an egg and was on the roost last night. The chicks are 4 1/2 weeks old, so she dropped them a little sooner then is ideal, but it's plenty warm and they know where the food and water is. The are all sticking together and are roosting together in a bush this morning. Momma doesn't seem to miss them at all. I am going to miss seeing them together, but glad to have another hen laying right now. She was so efficient, she molted while she was brooding.

OMG...tell me about broody at the same time!!! For the past week I think all I do is go home and toss Silkies out of the nesting boxes. There aren't even any eggs to sit on! My Porcelain D'Uccle is newly broody this year and she's PSYCHO....P-S-Y-C-H-O! I've been growled at before by the Silkies but the noise this one makes is demonic screaming.:oops:

But I totally agree....:love their fluffy butts!
I had my 2 OEGBs and silkie go broody at the same time this summer. Silly girls would not brood separately, so I ended up with all 3 hatching 1 chick. Twice. :th

So the feed store called this morning, the dark brahma rooster chick I ordered is in, but there was some sort of confusion and instead of blue partridge Brahmas, they got partridge Cochin bantams. I already told them I would like them to try and order the right ones and that I didn't want the Cochin chicks, but now I'm having second thoughts. What do you guys think?

ETA: Second thoughts as to not taking the Cochins, I still want the blue partridge Brahmas.

Don't reward them for ordering the wrong chicks. Refuse the wrong ones and demand they get the ones you ordered.

Yeah, told them to order the right chicks. I don't think they will have any problems selling the Cochin chicks. I haven't paid for them yet, they have you pay when you pick up the chicks. I think chicken math is getting to me.
