We're supposed to be 96 today. I don't think we're going to make that but it is scorching out there today! I refreshed the nest boxes and chicken coop. Got 5 solid eggs today!
One was a double yoked so I am assuming that is from my girl that has been having plumbing issues. She didn't lay yesterday. I'm hoping that her system has worked everything out. We will see what happens tomorrow. I completely cleaned out the duck coop. My gosh they are nasty!
But it has been wiped down and fresh bedding all put in. The flies are horrendous!
Any suggestions? I mean, I know you can't get rid of all of them. Flies are in nature and they like poop but any suggestions on cutting down on them that is safe around the ducks? After taking care of both coops and refreshing the animals waters and what not, I had to come back in. I was wringing wet with sweat.
Yuck!
I'll have to try and get some updated pics of my fluffies. I've had them for almost 2 weeks now. The Silkie is a brat. I can't wait for it to finish fluffing out because its ugly stage is... well, ugly. Ya know, I didn't really have an ugly stage with my first 6. They all feathered out really nicely and were always so pretty. Not the Silkie. Bless her heart (in the truest of southern meaning).
The Booted Bantam D'Uccle is still more skittish than I wish it was. I'm still working on it. The yellow one is an absolute fluffy sweetheart. Has some color showing up in its wings. Kind of a reddish color maybe? Maybe some kind of a RIR cross? Idk. It was suggested originally that its comb was a pea comb so I want to make sure that is still the consensus. And its tail is fluffy like a Silkie's. It doesn't have distinctive/defined feathers (if that makes sense) back there. Is weird. And the last one that I was hoping was an Easter Egger is feathering out really well. So I will like to get ya'lls thoughts/opinions on them. It will be a little while later tho. I have more stuff to do. Talk to ya'll later on.
