I can’t figure out how to get my heat pad to stay on constantly. Do you think I can leave her in the brooder for a day without risking the chicks?
She’s preening and paying them no mind. They are probably bothering her more than her them.
I just need to run out and get a second lamp or a pad with an auto off that can be disabled. Which is better as a “bird hospital” heat option?
I vote heating pad.

Doesn't some heating pad have an 'automatic shutoff' feature? I've been reading and hearing about it.........

Yes. Mine does but it doesn't bother me any to turn it back on.

Ok, I’ll hit Walmart before work. I’ve got a plastic pet carrier set up for her. I’m thinking food and water hooked to the door and heat pad under the back half. Should I leave her inside till 6 weeks now? I feel bad she’ll be on her own.

I don't know girl.
I don't worry much about cold/added heat.

Maybe she can stay with the babies?

That’s what I’m thinking... they seem just fine, if a little crowded in the box. I can move them to the grow out brooder I built easily enough. As long as she doesn’t peck at the babies she can stay there.
