Same here. The chickens have periods and only lay once a month when not forced to lay with layer feed really got me lol and the chicken hates other chickens cause it's part of the human flock lol I guess it's possible for a chicken not raised with other chickens to dislike them orrrrr.... the chicken meets a new chicken and was just exhibiting normal pecking order behaviors lol also I think it's only a month old so I don't think it's possible for a baby chick to hate other chickens yet lol

It's my birthday today The person I was hatching for said I can keep all the chicks that hatched (3 MF D'Uccles). I didn't ask to keep them but I guess the 50/50 deal was still going and it wasn't worth it to him (even though I was actually going to give him all the chicks anyhow).
As long as I can get at least one pullet out of these three I won't have to order eggs next year. That would save me a lot of time and money.

The good thing is there is a place around here that takes roosters into a bachelor pad; so it should be very easy to rehome any/all cockerels. I may keep one as a backup because I am on a trend of losing a male every year.

Kiki, this turned out pretty tasty. I forgot to take an after photo. Quail breast wrapped around a slice of cheese with a slice of bell pepper. Then wrapped in a half stip of bacon. I just baked it in a pan in the oven, but it probably would have been better on a broiling pan so it wasn't sitting in the bacon grease. Oven was at 375ish, baked for over 20 minutes until the meat looked cooked.
