Blue Brahma?
Do your Brahmas have pinched tails or the correct upside-down U?
Nvm, probably a Blue Copper Marans. I just noticed the Single comb and light feet feathering.
Nope and nope. He’s a Blue Langshan cross, hence the yellow legs. If he didn’t have those darn yellow legs then he’d be an awesome breeder. :barnie His full sister is right up to code for the Blue Langshan SOP, but he managed to get two recessive genes. :hmm

What all is he crossed with?
It shouldn't be too hard to breed out the yellow legs.

I do have a question however, we have a hen who has started laying shell-less eggs (pictures of last night’s egg at the bottom), and as you stated, calcium can be much more detrimental than protein. Would supplementing her calcium to help her shells come back lead to problems faster? We have given our Brahma hen calcium pills to help her shells but this is a langshan hen, and much lighter than the Brahma, and since calcium acts more like a fat-soluble vitamin we aren’t sure if it will cause more damage since she doesn’t have much fat on her.

We do that already with our current all flock feed. Though one of our hens we have noticed is laying shell-less eggs so we don’t think she’s eating the supplied oyster shells. Everyone else has nice firm shells except for her.

Laid last night after everyone was put away in the coop.

I was getting some shell less eggs, some whole some that had broken, as well. I don't know which pullet was having the problem. I have a bowl out of oyster shell out for them at all times but what I decided to do was put out a 2nd bowl. Just to rule out any possibility that maybe they were being run off from or just not getting enough for whatever reason of oyster shell. So far, I have 1 pullet that is laying eggs with some calcium buildup on her eggs and all of the rest are coming out solid so far. Haven't had any more soft or shell less eggs. Not sure of your setup but thought I'd share an easy fix that so far is working for me.

So...
On my front porch I have wooden Halloween pumpkins, ghost and a witch. They tend to fall over when it's windy. Last night, no wind. Chef and I are watching tv and we hear the figures falling over. After #2 went over, I had to go see what the issue was. Turned on the porch light and .....

Now, what you don't see is what raccoon # 1 is looking at...and that's a nasty opossum that wants the food bowl in front of raccoon #1. The food bowl is actually for the neighbor cats and now explains why I am constantly going through cat food. Ahem.
