Don't leave the bowl out there all night...those monsters will come back.
I brought in the bowl last night at dusk. At 4:45 this morning, Boots (neighbor cat) was looking straight in my front door and pawed at the door. Had to put the bowl back out.

I already posted pics of Bowie, yes that is what we decided to name him, the other day and I don't have any new ones.
2 months old already. My fluffies are growing up!![]()

" kind of morning. I let all of the birds out and my little duck Luna decided to fly out of her pen in to the chicken part. Just to noodle around. We get her to fly back over in to her area. Little Bowie, the Silkie, was practicing his squeak of a crow this morning. It is so cute! The big girls kept coming over to look and see who was making the noise. I go to leave. Luna flies back over. I say to myself, oh well. She'll fly back. I'm going in. And I notice NOAH, the drake, is somehow in the chicken pen. Now how the heck did he get his fat butt over? Luna done flew back over and poor Noah is stuck so I walk back and catch him and lift him back over the fence. The way this morning is going.... I wouldn't be surprised if Elvis gets out again. I just wanted to keep the littles confined a little bit longer until they realize the coop is their home and they're putting themselves to bed.
Yes....and when they molt, it takes a while for the curled feathers to come back.Curled feathers mean male????![]()
What are you going to do with your extra drakes?

I cannot muster any courage to cull either. We’ve found good homes for our boys so far and I know that is a really lucky thing to experience but I would rather give them a chance of having their own flock than be dead.I don’t know. We’ve never had to go through this before. I want to say that we’ll cull and process ourselves and have a few dinners. But we’ve never done it before and it sounds so... idk casual maybe, coming out of my mouth. It’s a big deal. But it’s also a part of keeping livestock and I’ve tried to keep reminding myself of that. I could try to give a pair of males away In the hopes that someone would like to have a male flock as pets. But there’s a real possibility of someone else wanting them just to get a few free dinners. All I know is that we’re going to have to figure it out.
That’s why I can’t raise my own meat birds, the thought of seeing them grow from tiny little popcorn balls and then ending that just shakes me to my core. I know that I eat chicken meat (rarely anymore, I’ve been moving away from it a lot) from the stores and essentially they live much worse lives but I would rather have the disconnect from live to dead. I just thought I would ask because I know some people would keep them all and the poor hens always end up hurt.
