➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Next year I should have quail appetizers too.
Hope everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving. :frow

Last night I was thinking seriously about this water fast thing. :sick
Not going to happen, I'm hungry again this morning. :D

Next year I'm going to Kiki's house. Man, that is some beautiful food. :drool

Kiki I had quail poppers! I only had 9 quail, but each made 4 poppers. They were really tasty. I forgot to get an after picture until half were already eaten. They were a hit.

Breast out the quail, cut each breast in half, place a few bell pepper slices (or jalepeno) and add a small dollop of cream cheese. Then wrap in a half slice of bacon and put them all on a broiler pan. Broil for 6-8 each side and check the bacon to be sure it is done, broil a little longer if needed. Then take out and serve for appetizer.

I found a local button quail breeder.... i’m strung between Coturnix and Button quail. If you were me, which one would you get? Buttons or Coturnix?
What is your goal with the quail? If you want eggs, meat, or interaction, go with coturnix. If you want pretty eye candy who do not like to be touched, tiny eggs, and not enough meat to be worth it, go with button quail. I have both and the buttons are for pretty while the coturnix are more productive. There are pretty colors to coturnix too.

The goal is pets. I’ve already consulted with the breeder, he said he’d reserve eggs or chicks for me if I wanted. But I think I’ll go with the Coturnix, they seem way friendlier.

I have a few that are ok with being handled, you just need to work with them when they are young and curious.
