A doctor in Japan(?) claims to have edited children for a couple, but that goes against regulations since human editing is universally illegal and he’s being investigated for it.

Was it the china hiv one?

umm I didn't know that it was past the experimental stage.... Yes I agree on regulating it, but I think it's not legal in people...I seen the news report about the china? twins whose dad was HIV so a scientist edited their genes IV so they wouldn't get it....
Well if it's a food animal I want the package marked

Yeah, that’s the one I was referring to, and agree.

I’m 20 haha, how old did you think?

Personally I think it’s all pretty dang cool. What an exciting time to be alive.

Idk, like 30s or at least late 20s. I figured you were youngish, like younger than kiki, but older than some people, especially cause don’t you like have your own house and a husband? Haha

I mentioned that above as well.
I understand that. Many people feel the same.

I think it’s fascinating at how they can do such things, especially since it takes so much expertise to actually complete it. The PCR is one thing, but to actually cut out a gene without botching the whole embryo? That’s so impressive

Yeah it’s definitely interesting. I don’t really get it though. So they were in the womb? Or already born? Or?

Yup China and that’s the one I mean

I have a niece and a nephew who each are working in their own fields in genomics.
Nathan is involved with the Grail project...research in developing a blood test that will confirm lung cancer that when detected in the early stages has a greater recovery percentage. The blood test would pick up minute rNA particles shed by the cancer cells.
And Kathryn heads research in bio-genetics. The last project was developing a DNA test for 99 flags for genetically inherited diseases. She is currently on maternity leave. Her baby son has undergone the test.
Their father, my brother-in-law helped develop a gene synthesizer back in the 1980s that is now a standard piece of equipment in laboratory research. He continues to work in bio-research and development.

Genome editing has been going on for years in the animal industry. Just like cloning has been. I’d rather they allow it so regulations can be put in place than the experimental subjecting it has right now.
Amen to that!

Wow that’s really cool!

Kiki is young!:old

Yes sorry, did not mean to imply you were old at all!
