Of course, I planted the seeds in November.
I so wish I was organized enough to have a garden that thrives. We tried last yr. I had an abundance of cucumbers and crook neck squash. A couple zucchini made it. Red bell pepper plants started to grow but ended up getting stunted and just wouldn't do anything else. Everything else we tried didn't do anything. We're going to try again this yr but plan/section the plants out and see if that will help us. Almost like individual beds and just do what we'll eat and can manage. Idk. We need to do something. We aren't natural green thumb people and are learning along the way.
I have best luck with banana peppers
I had four types the last few years and I have the best luck with those every year
Fogging to be a diverse garden. Good for you.
Last year was a difficult gardening year for zones 6-7. We had great peas, cucumbers, squash, garlic, okra and potatoes, but not so good on cabbage, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce or carrots. Usually have enough to can the tomatoes. Best tomato was Rupunzel cherry tomato. A lot of stuff came up nicely, then fizzled out befor the crop. Started transplants like usual and many just grew slowly and then went dormant.
We have raised beds and load up with aged compost and straw for mulch.
If you didn't live on ice, I'd say start building. Since you live on ice, wait for the summer thaw? Do a cattle panel aviary with the rodents!! And Lagomorpha! (Guinea Pigs, elves and rabbits. Did you know rabbits aren't rodents?)...definitely jealous. I need a bigger coop.
I have an idea in my head for a build for next year. A grow-out pen slash winter run. I don't have a cost estimate yet, which would be the biggest limiting factor. If you didn't live on ice, I'd say start building. Since you live on ice, wait for the summer thaw? Quail coop number 1 should be finished this weekend, weather permitting. It will be a chilly 50ish. I'll dress warmly. May even wear long pants.![]()
I think I might have to aim for 1000 then. 100 meals does not sound like a lot.5 Quail = 1 chicken dinner. That is 100 dinners. With no guests. Good start, what are you eating the rest of the year? Chicken? You doing CX this year???
JEALOUS! We will send you pictures.
Hi, @Tesumph! Pretty pictures. Glad you your trip is going well! Stay warm.
Yes! Starting on the garden. Need to get the tomatoes and peppers started this month. February is around the corner. Daughter reclaiming the kitchen garden from the weeds. And the cabbage, broccoli and .. and..![]()
You evidently didn't know me as a small kid, lol. If I was right, I made sure everyone knew it. Took me a while to clue into the fact that it wasn't polite to walk up to an adult and tell them to their face that they were incorrect and then prattle on about the correct way. It wasn't cute once I got past age six.A delicate flower such as you being obnoxious? Tell me it isn't so.
Lol
They would not survive outside in the 1 3/4" of snow that has fallen so far today. This particular kind of tomato does very well in pots and allows me to have ripe tomatoes by March.Just seems really early for Wyoming!!
