➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Yeah, we need the eggs now so the older they are the better. Claborn is also NPIP which is the only way we can get chicks/eggs. Our blue hatch resulted in 4 boys and 3 girls. :barnie If we can't get rid of these boys then I guess I'm going to figure out how to do this culling thing. :th

Those are awesome breeds! You're going to have such a lovely egg basket. :love
Did you notice they order chicks from 3 major hatcheries to raise and they have them all vaccinated for Marek's?

I did see that. Our original flock was most likely vaccinated as well since we got them from TSC who got them from Welp Hatchery and they are all vaccinated as far as I know when sent to those stores.

I don't know how TSC stores operate but I know my local feed stores do not pay the extra for the vaccine when they order chicks.

Reading up on it, they don’t vaccinate either. Good to know. Doesn’t do any good for the started though. :hmm I think all started pullets from differing places are vaccinated though so a private breeder is our only option if we don’t want vaccinated birds..and there isn’t much in the way of NPIP breeders here.

I just worry that if you were to bring vaccinated birds in and they happen to have the disease...your current flock would suffer.

The sole Australorp cross hen that hatched last year is laying the cutest, petite eggs. Fattest hen, smallest egg. Quite comical, really. I'm wondering when the eggs will upsize. Of course, she may just be a petite egg layer.
Here is yesterday's with a bonus rubber egg. Something tell me the Leghorns are having issues.
