➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I think you've got a great plan. Well done! I really like the idea of having the big girls see them right off the bat. Should make integrations nice and easy.

On another note, my feed store had Cream Brabanters yesterday, which I had never heard of. The gal googled them and I ended up bringing home five pullet chicks. I had literally (the day before) just taken the PCs and Hamburgs out of the brooder and moved them to the transition coop. I've got problems, man. In my defense, look at them!!!View attachment 1754789 View attachment 1754790 View attachment 1754793 View attachment 1754794 View attachment 1754795

Thank you!! I appreciate that!! Yeah, I had read several things on here about it, and it just seems to make the most sense to me. Some people have said that they have their chicks fully integrated by like 4 to 6 weeks old. And supposedly they accept babies better than older, closer to full size birds. Which makes sense to me. Plus I like for them to learn how life works and social skills and stuff from watching the bigs that they really can’t learn from being in a closed off brooder. But I mostly just figured it would make integration easier. And I also read that they still have a lot of the duck and cover instincts and stuff until like 4 weeks old which is partly why I want to move them outside before then so they can get used to shadows and the noises and stuff so they can learn when to hide. They can hear inside the coop because it’s pretty open but I want them to be able to see too. This is one of the articles I had read and I really liked the portal idea so I think I am going to integrate it when they are old enough.

And OMG those babies are SO CUTE!!! I can see why you got them!! I almost bought a bunch of babies at the feed store yesterday because they were all 75% off but then I remembered I really do not have room for more than the ones I am adding especially with their 6 chick minimum. Plus Kiki talked me down LOL

Go back and get a boy!

Go back and get a boy!
Yes! And then set up a breeding pen and breed them!! Because they are gorgeous!! :love you just need to!!! You HAVE to!!!
I would, but they only had pullets. I'm secretly hoping to get a rooster out of the bunch. I will absolutely breed them if I've got nice looking birds. My yuppie feed store is rad.

I really hope you have a boy or two.
:fl

One will do the trick. Just one, plus four hens. That would be perfect. I guess I could always ask them to get me a rooster. Pretty sure that their supplier is Ideal.
What!?
I deal has these things.
I'm going look now.

I'll be.
