Made the mistake of trying to change the cover on the chicks’ heating pad cave.... BIG mistake. Lots of angry “that’s not our mother!!!” chirping! When I put the old cover back on.... they all ran under

LOL I know!! I don’t blame them though, this was a totally different color and they’ve had the same “mother” for 3 weeks. Also I had them on the big girl side (with the pop door shut and bigs free ranging don’t worry) while I cleaned their side but then someone came over right when I had it emptied so I didn’t get to finish cleaning for like 40 mins so they were running around on bigs side all that time so I think they were maybe also hungry and thirsty and overwhelmed by all the changes since I used a different brand and texture of shavings too and they met a new person and it was close to bed time and all they wanted to do was eat, drink, and go back under their familiar “mama” so I don’t blame them. Maybe I will try again tomorrow. Then they will have all day to get used to it.

Although I should say I know for a fact these cries were because I changed up “mama” because they had already eaten and drank and were standing in front of the “new” mama screaming and inspecting it and the second I put the old cover back on they shut up, ran under, and some even immediately jumped on top as if to say “ahhhh, there’s my REAL mama, so glad to see you again mom”
