➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

The pictures I've seen of birds produced by Privett make me think you've made the right choice. Especially since you ordered a bunch of SLW. And Ideal has been in the EE biz for a hundred years or so, I wouldn't hesitate to get some of those from them. All the hatcheries are volume over quality but some are worse about it than others.

It's always acceptable to rehome an ill-tempered rooster as a "free chicken dinner". ;)

That is very true!! Lol

Mine requires periodic correction. (I shove him with my foot if he being too bold). He and I are both still young and learning how to get along. But he is generallly a good boy. I like looking out into the yard and seeing him standing tall, watching the skies while all the ladies take a dust bathe together. He does have a terrible eggsong though, and insists on screeching it every time one of his ladies lays.

Aww

I just got back from getting my Buster groomed. He’s going to feel so much better through the hot summer temps. He’s so handsome!

Life on a farm in Oklahoma this year....

:eek:Yikes...another round begins today of storms and significant flooding due to total ground saturation.
We got the tree limbs cut up yesterday from Monday's tornado.
Sister had a tornado Tuesday morning in Norman. Lost the top out of her peach tree but more damage NE of her.

5 broody ducks!!! Two are sharing the barrel with 15 eggs. Two are sharing the NE corner of the duck coop...Daisy and now looks like Maggie again with those 13 eggs. Daphnie still has the NW corner of the coop with her 10 eggs....hers should hatch the last week in May.

We had 27 chicks hatch yesterday too. Candled the trays and only pulled three from the tray going into lockdown tomorrow night and 9 from the June 3 tray.
Setting another tray this evening.

Took the early pregnant heifer to the vet for a vaginal check...small pelvic spread which we expected. She is full term but calf has not fully dropped into position.....so the vet will keep her, give a shot to induce labor for hopefully a Friday day delivery with a C-section if necessary. :th
Looks like I may be bottle feeding a baby if she doesn't take it or supplementing with a bottle if she does accept the calf.:pop

And the wild geese brought company for lunch...there were 6 at the tire feeder.
